Supporting The Art Community in Tengenenge, Zimbabwe
Most Tengenenge artists live in the Tengenenge village itself. All artists have the possibility to build their own mud hut within the community. In Tengenenge there are more than 100 of those houses. The water of the village comes directly from the source and is distributed through a handful of taps within the village. This installation had been financed by the French embassy. There is no electricity in Tengenenge. Years back, the German Embassy had installed electricity in the village, but with the lacking customers, the artists were not anymore in the position to pay the bills. By now, a few artists have a small solar panel.
The village has a pre-school run by Stella Gutura. However, for primary school the children need to go to Horseshoe, which lies at 10km. As well the next health facility is in a distance of 15km.
