About Tengenenge

At present, about 150 artists are active in the Tengenenge Art Community. Around a hundred of them are living with their families in the Tengenenge village while the others live and work elsewhere bringing the sculptures to Tengenenge for sale.

Upon selling, the artists pay 35% commission, which is used to pay the salaries of the management team, the running costs of the company as well as the commission to be paid for the exploitation of the mines owned by the company. In exchange, the artists get provided with a space to construct their own houses in the village and get water as well as the raw stones for free.
